CFO Must-Reads: Week of 9/28

Adaptive Insights, cpm software, corporate performance management, business intelligence, financial planning, financial budgets, financial reportingIt’s officially the final quarter of 2015 (for most of us). It’s the time of the year when business finance teams around the globe are keenly focused on closing 2015 on a high note, crushing Q4 goals, and meeting 2015 milestones. And similar to the varying skills of modern CFOs that we detailed in last week’s list of CFO Must-Reads, there are several different traits of finance chiefs who can lead a finance team and the broader organization to the finish line and a successful end result.

So check out this week’s CFO Must-Reads that highlight a few different types of finance chiefs. We see all of them across our 2,800 customers, but which type of modern finance leader do you identify with most closely? Let us know on Twitter or LinkedIn.

The strategist.

In a blog by our partner, Intacct, they note that CFOs are rising above the spreadsheet and proving that their strategic value goes far beyond just balancing the books and crunching the numbers. Increasingly more equipped with business insights, analytics, and data, finance chiefs are rapidly becoming major players in the corporate world.

The communicator.

In a post on, the importance for CFOs to interact cross-functionally and keep the lines of employee communication wide open are highlighted. They detail three goals that finance leaders need to keep in mind when sharing information across the company.

The technologist.

As technology continues to evolve, the role of finance continues to progress as well, as noted in a Bisnow article. No longer confined to just budgeting and bookkeeping, finance executives are leading the charge in implementing new technology and modern solutions.

The partner.

In an article in Business Standard, author Deepak Narayanan observes that finance leaders continue to prove their value as strategic powerhouses. A true decision driver and business partner, CFOs are transforming the way business is being done and establishing themselves as organizational leaders.
